Why do Koreans like Starcraft so much?

I have wondered for a long time why Starcraft is so endearing to the Koreans. Most people have not noticed this, but Starcraft is the only game where the majority of its market is in one single country, and still be widely successful. Do Koreans see Starcraft differently than other people? Of course. The question is why. Please answer intelligently.
