Are we being told what to say?

Today's teenagers like to use the word out of its context. So instead of saying its unusual, odd, or something of that area. We decide to say gay because we either lack the understanding of its true meaning or we do not respect those who are of its nature. I myself as a 16 year old kid have nothing against gay people that is why I do not use the word gay out of context. It all comes down to who the person is and their view on ity.
