Other options besides Medi-Cal in CA?

My husband has these lumps all over his body and we are anxious to get them checked by a Dr. His insurance through work does not start up until April of 08. No other insurance companies will accept him due to a previous back injury. I have been researching like crazy trying to find out help options here in CA. I know they offer Medi-Cal and MIA. Is there any other options out there that we can look in to?
