I need help , my parents dont want me to like the guy i like!?

ok so i no im not gonna like marry him or anything but if i dont, go out with him or let myself like him then i dont wanna miss out on wat could have been you no? when i tried explaining this to my parents they said i was to young to think like that (im 16) and laughed it off and said i wasnt aloud to like him! they think they can control everything even the way i feel, but im not gonna rant , so heres the facts , my parents dont like him (even though theve never met him) because he isnt excactly a perfect citizen , its not like hes a criminal but they say i dont need to be scene hanging around with him ( he isnt a straight a student but its not like hes failing ) and hes nice to me but they say he wont always be cause hes a "trouble" maker this is all based off of what the other parents on the pta told my mom , ick and that he randomly showed up at my house the other day (b4 i told my parents about him) and asked if i wanted to go for a drive so when i asked where he said anywhere just get in the car in drive ,,,,apparently my parents think based on that he has no plans for his future .....please help me convince them to let me like him and spend time with him ,,,sorry for how long this is
